Younique's 3D Fibre Lash Macara - Worth the hype or just another fad?

I'm going to be totally honest. When I first heard about the younique brand I wasn't sold at all. I don't know if it was because their price range was way out of my budget (hey, I'm a drugstore kind of girl) or their selling techniques which practically had their presenters forcefully encouraging you to buy everything under the sun. Either way I wasn't totally into the whole idea of trying their products. However,  I received one of their more popular items as a gift from my sister. The 3D Fibre Lash Mascara. Having used it a number of times and it being one of those products a lot of people um and arr about, I thought I'd share my opinion with you guys.

You can't deny that the 3D Fibre Lash Mascara is something a little new and different to the make-up industry. The whole idea of this product is to replace the use of false lashes and to make your real lashes appear more fuller and longer. The technique is carried out by applying a coat of translating gel over your original mascara and then adding fiber lashes to create the effect. Truth be told I bloody hate applying false lashes so this mascara sounded like the perfect solution to my problem.

The packaging is elegant to say the least. The sturdy case contains two different tubes. One containing the gel which has a hourglass wand to apply with and the other containing the fibers which comes with a slightly smaller wand as shown in the picture below.

Reading the instructions that are included with this mascara I followed the step by step process. The first thing that's mentioned is to apply a coat of your own mascara. For me this kind of defeated the object of the 3D mascara. Why should I already have to own another product to achieve the look? Especially when your paying out for a high end product. In my eyes this was a bit of a cop out.

After applying a coat of mascara it states to add the transplanting gel and add the fibers straight after.
To avoid any fall out I made sure I took my time. I'm not going to lie, once adding the fibers to the ends of my lashes I saw an instant difference. Its actually quite impressive with just one coat. Built up to three or four coats this mascara surprisingly does deliver. Below are my "before" and "after" photos.

The before photo shows myself wearing just my normal mascara and the after photo shows myself wearing the 3D fiber mascara.

Evidently there is no denying that this product does achieve the look it states. My lashes felt fuller and longer with the added bonus of not putting up with the annoyance of falsies. However depending on how many fibers you add Its worth stating that the product can become quite clumpy on your lashes. Its always worth taking your time and getting a bit of practice in as when it is used correctly it looks quite flattering and gives an overall dramatic make-up look.

If your into trying new things and like something a bit more fancy I recommend giving it a go.  However, I don't think I'll be purchasing this for myself again. I liked the idea of the product and I liked the overall look but personally I cant justify spending nearly £30.00 on something that makes me just as happy as my £8.99 drugstore mascara does. Call me a cheap skate but hey... at least my purse is better off.

Thanks for reading.
